Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith (called MOTS ) is the expansion pack of the game of ‘ Universe expanded Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II . It was published Jan 31. 1998 . One of the best surprises for the players is the ability to play as Mara Jade , one of the most popular characters of ‘ Star Wars Expanded Universe . The story is set in 10 ABY , five years after the events of Jedi Knight . The result is Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast .
The story consists of missions not related to each other, and is focused on the redemption of Kyle Katarn . The story begins on Altyr V , where the base of the new Republic is receiving a bombardment from two artificial asteroids and by ‘attacking Imperial Remnant . Kyle Katarn , the main character controlled by the player, he manages to foil the attack and steal a Lambda-class shuttle to get on one of the asteroids. While there is fails to arrive on the planet Dromund Kaas , which is an important foundation for the empire. Kyle comes to the temple to investigate while the player passes to control Mara Jade .
The first of Mara mission is to reach an agreement with Ka’Pa the Hutt concerning the supplies of the New Republic. Mara must steal the GCT device Takara, but is captured by Takara. Following is free and manages to steal the device. After that, Mara is found on a Corvette of the Republic to guard a Holocron Jedi during an attack of pirates Kaerobani. Mara rejects the attackers, but loses Holocron. Arriving on Rathalay then able to retrieve the artifact.
Arriving on Dromund Kaas Mara discovers what happened to Kyle. Crossing the swamp reaches the Temple of the Dark Force, finding Kyle totally crazy because of the dark side of the Force . Master and apprentice fought, with duels that end with the victory Mara forcing Kyle to hide deeper and deeper into the catacombs. Eventually Mara off his lightsaber and surrendered, trying to come to his senses Kyle. The attempt fails, as Kyle realizes he can not follow that dark path, and returns to the light side of the Force. After that, Kyle gives up his activities as a Jedi, returning to act as army for the Republic.
